READING COMPREHENSION - ´The Witch of Wall Street´ (Two pages)
An interesting short biography accompanied by several attractive comprehension activities. Once you have corrected the tests and handed them in, set a conversation in class about the topic and take the opportunity to teach moral values. Have students express their opinion about rich and powerful people and the way they spend their money. Pupils will compare Hetty´s attitude and eccentric way of life with other powerful and wealthy people in their country or around the world. Mention some politicians, actors, footballers, etc to be compared with the old woman. As a finishing touch, they can write a mini composition on a separate sheet of paper where they must say what they would do if they were Hetty Green, her son, her daughter, her friends, her husbands, etc in order to use the 2nd conditional.
