Christmas Friendship Mittens (Student Interview Activity for Pairs)
Here are my friendship mittens. There are 3 sets of mittens to choose from red, green or white. Print multiple copies for your classroom or school.
Before you begin this lesson, you may choose to explain that mittens go together like 2 friends. Every mitten needs another mitten to make a pair. A mitten without a partner is almost useless. After all, you dont usually wear just 1 mitten do you?
Divide students into pairs and give each child a mitten or a mitten sheet (each child will fill in the blanks on 1 mitten). Students must interview their partner and fill in the missing pronouns and other details. Once they are finished, children may color their mittens and cut them out. Give each child a piece of yarn to tie their mittens together. (I added a little circle to each mitten to show you where to punch a hole.) Later you can ask the students to go to the front of the classroom one pair at a time and read what they wrote to the class. (Each child speaks about their classmate.) Collect all the mittens after everyone has had a turn and hang the mittens as a classroom or hallway decoration. They would also look good as a border around a bulletin board.
Have Fun!
