Word problems are always difficult for English learners. Here is a practice worksheet for grade 6-8 level students. The first page reviews ´how to say number types´. The bottom of page 1 and pages 2-3 present a word problem and related questions. The idea is that it be solved as a group with quite a bbit of oral discussion. The teacher asks the students to explain orally and then they write it down. In some cases, the students writes first, then explains orally. I´ve designed this for small group tutoring but it could be adapted for classroom use.
