Reading and writing about Oneself
The reading passage is about a boy who introduces and describes himself. He also speaks about his family members and their occupations. I used the text as a Mock exam to train the students on the different kinds of questions that they can find in a reading exam :Multiple choice questions, Short response questions, and long response questions in which the students are supposed to write from their own experience.)
After that, I used the text to explain the mechanics of writing. The students filled in the cluster with information from the text and then searched for vocabulary words that can be used later on in the writing stage. After drawing their own cluster and filling with information about themselves and their families, the students are supposed to write an information report text with all the information they gathered.
