Valentine´s Day: What is your ideal partner like?
About this worksheet:
The format is based on the idea of those popular teen magazine spots that give one a description of one´s basic positive personality traits (smart, positive, energetic, generous, popular, strong in a crisis, etc.).
Includes:
1) a matching exercise to define 12 idiomatic expressions,
2) 24 definitions from context exercise (with answer keys),
3) reflection exercise (using a T-Chart graphic organizer), in which the students compare their
ideal boy- or girlfriend`s personality to the suggested match’s personality traits.
4) Webliography for the original image used to create the border.
There are 12 fictitious descriptions which I created, one for each month of the year. (Students choose their birthday month). They all contain only positive traits that will make students feel good about themselves. Some of them contain an idiom (wear emotions on one`s sleeve, go the extra mile, pull the wool over one´s eyes, count on someone in a pinch, being a rock in a crisis, etc. The descriptions are short, easy to read, and the exercise lends itself to reflection on personal growth.
