Humorous Biographies
Most of the time, students write for the teacher. Here the students write humorous biographies of their classmates for their classmates AND their teacher to read. Have everyone write their name on a slip of paper, collect them, and have each student draw a name out of a hat, taking care to draw a second name if they happen to draw their own. (And why not have the teacher add his/her name to the bunch?)
Then the students have to write a humorous biography of the person whose name they have drawn. When the assignment is due, students read their biography that a classmate has written of them.
NOTE: For teenagers, it is *ESSENTIAL* to remind students NOT to include anything that could hurt someone’s feelings.
I used Party Std for the title font. The eps images will look best printed on a PostScript-compatible laser printer from a Macintosh.
