Love Clinic
Perfect way to combine a Valentine´s Day theme with the "should" modal. I recommend using 2 periods for this. First, have students read a letter from an advice column about romance. This would be a good time to introduce romance-related vocabulary. (Sorry, no handouts for this, yet.) Then, have students write their own fictional "love problem". Last, do a roleplay. Choose a few high-level students to be "love doctors". Have them sit behind desks, and a few patients sit in chairs around each "doctor". Patients take turns reading aloud their "problem" and getting advice from the doctors. Other patients have to listen without commenting. You can rotate doctors and let students go to different doctors for "second opinions". The 2nd page is a homework handout, in which students read an advice column letter and respond to it with their own advice. Hope your students can have fun with this!
