Getting a Word In
In this enjoyable exercise, each student is given a card with a secret phrase. Students then work in groups of 5-7, discussing every topic they wish, but during the 20-minute discussion they have to place their secret sentence as naturally as possible in a way so that no one else can identify their sentence. The trick is to speak about several different topics and to continue speaking after placing their sentence. The idea for this exercise comes from Alan Maley and Alan Duffs "Drama Techniques" (C.U.P.), which is my favourite teaching resource!
