Song "Fireworks" - Roxette
I used this old Roxette song when I first introduced the topic of the "gap year" 4 years ago to my 11th graders. It explains the story of 2 girls who quit school to persue a dream career in music. The chorus, for those who might not get it, represents the supposed first music these 2 girls did. It kinda made them think - would it be better to quit school to persue dreams that might bring you nothing put obstacles? or maybe just do a break for a year to think wisely of what to do after finishing school? And many other questions that may come up and create a debate.
