Countables and Uncountables: Farmers Market Role-Playing
Objective: Have students through Farmers Market role-playing practice distinguishing between countables and uncountables and learn to use the appropriate language (how much/how many, a few or a little, a lot, any)
Divide the students into two groups - buyers and sellers. Arrange the classroom desks in rows like a farmers market. Ask the buyers to make a list of the foods and goods that they hope to buy in the Farmers Market. Ask the farmers to choose goods to sell and to set their prices. Ensure that some sellers have countable and some uncountable products. Then let them buy and sell and practice the language of how much/how many, a few or a little, a lot, and any. My kids had a blast role-playing and had lots of speaking practice!
