Now Thatīs Funny- comic strip
This hands-on activity can be used when classroom activity involves the study of chronological order; the parts of speech, particularly nouns and verbs; paragraphing; adding detail to writing; and listening skills.
The teacher or students will need to collect colorful comic strips from local newspapers. Other materials needed: scissors, dark markers, pencil and paper.
Spread the comic pages on a table and let individual students choose their favorite comics.
Once they have completed steps 1-5 on the worksheet, let pairs of students follow the Classroom Helper directions, keeping in mind that the objective is to not only have a little fun but to help the author be more descriptive and detailed. The activity works well with advanced students and can be modified to meet your needs.
