"Take Me Home, Country Roads" with holes - listening activity
The famous John Denver song, "Take Me Home, Country Roads". The first page contains the lyrics to the song with ten blanks for the students to fill in as they listen to the song. The second page contains the full lyrics with the blanks filled in for the teacherīs use if needed. When I give this assignment to my students, I like to fold the answer choices at the bottom for the first listening or two so they have to really focus on the words, then let them look at the answer choices the last time through. Additional lesson material can be built on this simple activity by having the students sing along, explaining the meaning of the words, and/or having them translate the lyrics into their native language.
