Sentence Gambling
This is a game to practice identifying how to correctly make sentences and questions in the past tense. My students really like the hands on part of counting the money and the excitement of the competition. The class should be split into teams and given a time limit (i did 4 minutes) to write their decision of if each answer´s grammar is correct or wrong.
When the time is up, they should have their pencils down (no changing answers!) and they should be given some fake money in equal amounts. free, fake play money can be downloaded at this website: www.moneyinstructor.com/play.asp. You, the teacher, should also have a stash of money, as you´re ´the bank´.
For each answer, they will put down their bet and say their answer. If they got the right answer, the teacher will reimburse them with double their bet!!! if their answer was wrong, their money goes into the teacher´s pot of money.
The winner is the team who has the most money at the end.
