Make Your Very Own Country
This worksheet is part of a larger geography lesson. I started the lesson by showing the Animaniacs clip "Nations of the World" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IDtdQ8bTvRc) and challenging the students to remember as many nations as possible, giving a prize to the winning team.
After that, I slowed things down a bit, opening Google Earth and exploring our area, eventually eliciting from them which continent we are on. After that came a slideshow exploring the seven continents, with cultural elements from each, followed by a brief quiz.
Then I gave the students the chance to create their own country and that´s where this worksheet came into play. I hope to follow up with more specifics about their countries and have them draw maps and such. This is the sort of thing you could spend weeks developing with them, if you´re able.
