Natural Disasters
• You can use these cards to teach and revise vocabulary related to Natural Disasters (basically Earthquake, Flood, Drought, Volcanic Eruption, Tsunami and Wildfire).
• Cut out the word cards and place them on the table for everyone to see. Divide the class into groups and ask them to classify the words in different columns according to categories of their own choice. Ask SS what these words have in common. Identify CAUSES and CONSEQUENCES. Then practice linking the words together by making sentences.
You may use these cards to play “Word Association Dominoes” (see Vocabulary Games and Activities for Teachers by Peter Watcyn-Jones). Learners love this game!! I highly recommend it.
