Activities to encourage students to keep a reading journal by responding to the books they read. They do not need to finish a book to complete some of the activities. The focus should be on their response to encourage them to read more so less emphasis on their grammar when responding and more emphasis on their ideas and creativity. Also encourage decoration and art work in their journal. I do this every year and check the journals every two weeks. It produces some beautiful and imaginative work which can be quite personal
