80 MOST COMMON IRREGULAR VERBS
This list contains the 3 basic forms of irregular verbs: base form, simple past & participle. After each form, Ss have a space to write the pronunciation of all the forms of the verbs given. THE MAIN OBJECTIVE of this worksheet IS THAT Ss WRITE THE PRONUNCIATION OF THE VERBS AS THEY HEAR IT so that they can use this material as reference to practice the pronunciation on their own. PROCEDURE FOR ALL THE VERBS: T reads the base form, Ss repeat and then write the pronunciation. T reads the simple past, Ss repeat and then write the pronunciation. T reads the participle form, Ss repeat and after write the pronunciation. I suggest doing one or two verbs every day [Ss would memorize the pronunciation and spelling for homework] starting from class 1, so that when it is time for Ss to learn the simple past and present perfect they don’t have to worry about memorizing the verbs, and can concentrate more on the use of the corresponding auxiliaries, as well as the meaning and use of these tenses.
