Give Take Swap cards
This is a reusable game suitable for all age students. Using WH questions to check comprehension re: any topic you´ve read or studied, review what they´ve learned with this game.
Print out the card sheet, cut them up and put all the cards into a bag. Shake thoroughly. Put the students into groups of 3 - 4 each. Each group starts with 5 points.
Group one goes first. They are asked a question. They must answer together (which means they have to confirm via whispers what they are going to say). If they are correct, they get 5 points. THEN they pick a card from the bag. GIVE= they give 5 of their points to another team (T erases 5 points from theirs and adds 5 points to their chosen group), TAKE = they can take 5 points from any group for their own, or SWAP = they can exchange their points for another groups.
I´ve played this game with students from G1 up to G6 and they´ve all loved it. The suspense in pulling the card out and seeing what they get just kills them. They also try to bribe each other not to pick them for the ´take´ cards or to pick them for the ´give´ cards.
The best part about this game is that they don´t know who the winner will be until the end. You can be 30 points ahead and still lose if someone grabs the SWAP card right at the end. This keeps morale up, instead of giving up halfway through because they´re so far behind.
