This article talks about how English came to be the most prominent language for international business and government and what the benefits of learning English can be. Vocuabulary and reading questions included, as well as teacherīs key. This article makes a good complement to the Anti-English article I posted yesterday. I had students read both during class and then discuss which side makes more sense- learning English because it is most common or fighting it because some people donīt like that their languages are not being spoken instead. (We also discussed the benefits/difficulties of using Romanized alphabet versus learning any of the Asian or Russian written languages, etc).
