Verb Tense Dice: Simple Past, Past Continuous, and Present Perfect Communication Activity
This is a dice game that students can use to help students practice the difference between simple past, present perfect, and past continuous tenses. Print these dice on card stock for strength. Students can be placed in groups of three. Students will roll the dice and will make a sentence about the verb using the tense provided. If the teacher wishes to make this game into a competition, students can write down the verb and the tense rolled, create a sentence with it, and the group to make the most sentences in 5 minutes wins a treat. All sentences must use the verb correctly with the tense rolled, so it is important that the students write down what they rolled along with the sentence.
This is a good activity as a follow-up at the end of a lesson or a warm-up at the beginning of class. These dice can be altered in Microsoft Paint if you wish to change the verbs or the tenses.
