This is great for young learners. In my lessons I often use a teddy (who can only speak English) to encourage young learners to speak more and feel at ease. The teddy works especially well when learning questions such as what´s your name? How old are you? etc as the pupils can take the bear one at a time and ask pupils the question using the bear. Anyway, this is why I chose a bear for my worksheet. Pupils can then label the body parts. I also used the same template to make a bear puppet during a year 1 lesson. Each pupils cuts out the body parts and then attachs the bear together using pins which fold open at the back. The theme of bears can then be continued to play a game in small groups based on the idea of ´beatle drive.´ For those of you who don´t know what this is, I will explain. All pupils have a pencil and a piece of paper- the teacher then draws the bear body parts on the board, and each body part has a number so head 1, arms 2, legs 3 etc. The class is then divided into small groups of 4 (or you can decide) and each group has a die. The pupils take it in turns to role the die- if a child roles a 1 for example they are allowed to draw the bear´s head, and then they pass the die to the next child. The aim is to be the first to draw the entire bear. However, you need to role two 2s to draw both arms and two 3s to draw both legs for example. I hope this helps!! I did it with 8 and 9 year olds and they loved it!
