AT HOME..... AT THE SEA
THIS IS THE TEXT TO A MAC KEYNOTE PRESENTATION WHICH ALSO HAS A MASS OF PHOTOS TO ILLUSTRATE VOCABULARY INTRODUCED. UNTIL I CAN UPLOAD IN A FAIRLY SIMPLE WAY AVOIDING GOING OVER SETLIMITS THIS WILL HAVE TO DO. I ALSO HAVE CROSSWORDS AND QUESTION SHEETS WHICH I WILL ATTEMPT TO ORGANISE FOR UPLOADING. THERE IS A LIMITED VOLUME OF SIMPLE READING FOR THIS AGE( 10-12/3) WHICH REFLECTS THE STUDENTS OWN LIFE (OR PARALLEL LIFE IN GB) AND WITH WHICH THEY CAN IDENTIFY. I FIND A CONTINUING FAMILY STORY IS VERY ACCEPTABLE TO MOST OF MY PUPILS RATHER THAN THE RANDOM ARTICLES THEY FIND IN THEIR CLASS TEXTBOOKS AND THEY GENUINELY WANT TO KNOW MORE OF THEIR LIVES IN GREAT BRITAIN. A GREAT SENSE OF ACHIEVEMENT IS ALSO GAINED BY READING A STORY WITHOUT TOO MUCH USE OF DICTIONARY. I HAVE ALSO RECORDED THE STORY FOR THOSE TEACHERS WHO WOULD LIKE THEIR STUDENTS TO HEAR A NATIVE SPEAKER, ESPECIALLY AS I USE THE STORY AS LISTENING COMPREHENSION TOO. FIRSTLY I GET THE STUDENTS TO LISTEN WITH THEIR BOOKS CLOSED AND THEN ASK THEM TO TELL ME ANY WORDS WHICH THEY RECOGNISED OR ANYTHING THEY UNDERSTOOD -HERE I ALLOW THEIR NATIVE TONGUE BRIEFLY - SECOND READING IS FOR DEEPER COMPREHENSION . USING THE PROJECTOR I THEN GO THROUGH THE ILLUSTRATIONS SPEAKING AND DISCUSSING THEM AND FINALLY WE READ TOGETHER. USUAL FOLLOW-UP AND CLASSWORK .
