Present Perfec vs Past Simple
What do you have to do? cut the sentences so that there is 1 word on each sheet of paper. Make sure that the time adverbs have the match or the bucket with water next and the verbs have the cake or the dynamite. Give each student 2 sentences - 1 with past simple and 1 with present perfect - and ask them to reorder the words to form the sentences. Ok, the idea is that if they use past simple time adverbs with present perfect and the other way around, the match will fire the dynamite and it will explode, and the water will ruin the cake. If the put the adverbs correctly, the match lights the candle on the cake and the water puts out the dynamite...
