who is it?
Students play the game: who is it? They work in pairs. Student A thinks of a person from the worksheet and student B asks questions to find out who he/she is. Student B uses the past simple to ask questions:
Were you a painter? Did you invent something? Did you write books?
They can use vocabulary related to professions, nationalities or even describe the picture.
Student A has to answer short answers: Yes, I was./No, I didn´t...
Students then switch roles.
This activity could be extended by adding other famous people from the students´ country of origin or depending on the age, other people they might know.
If the pictures show modern celebrities, then the activity could be used to practice the present simple.
Check my other printable (who is it? worksheet) for a reading/grammar activity related to famous people in the past where they practice the past simple.
I also have a printable with modern famous people for students to work the present simple and practice the speaking skill by talking about people they know.
