Homonym Memory Game
These flash-cards can be used as an English club activity or a classroom activity, if the classroom is divided into groups. I usually use this for English club.
The activity is a simple memory activity using homonyms.
1) Place the flash-cards face-down on a surface and arrange students around the cards.
2) Students janken (rock-paper-scissor) to decide who goes first.
3) Student turns two cards over, looking for a matching pair of homonyms. If the students gets a match then they continue until they mismatch a pair of cards.
4) Play continues until all cards are matched. The person with the most matched pairs wins.
5) At the end of the game, review the homonyms with the students.
Notes: You can put students in pairs to play this game if you have many students. Try to keep the overall group small so as to keep the activity fast paced and keep the students active.
