Rooms in the house
Print out one of these cards for each student. I also give each player a counting bear, but it could be any small object that they can "place" in a room.
First, the teacher tells the students where to place the bear. "The bear is in the living room," etc. The students listen and move their bears to different rooms as you say them.
Then, this turns into a partner activity (with older kids). I give each pair a file folder to place between their desks so they can´t cheat. Each kid places his/her bear in a room, and the game is like battleship. They have to ask their parter, "Is the bear in the kitchen?" etc. They take turns with their question. When they finally get one right, that person gets a point and BOTH PLAYERS place their bear in a new room and start over. It works best if you model this before starting with one of your faster students with more advanced language skills.
Kids love this because they think they´re playing a game, but they´re getting lots of practice with rooms in the house and asking questions!
