This was used with a menīs group in the UK who said they wanted to be able to read a newspaper. The aim is for pairs to develop reading strategies by scanning for specific words. This starter can lead into identifying the parts of a newspaper, understanding headlines, reading advertisements etc depending on the needs and interests of the learners
