This is an activity that is designed to teach students the first eight amendments to the constitution. Each amendment is broken into parts and has a concise definition for each part. To help the students to define each word, you can create a simple power point with a picture to represent each part. Using the picture you provide as well as their understanding, students can create a picture representation of the parts of each amendment. Finally, ask the students to work in groups to create a hand signal to help them remember each ammendment. For example,the students can hold one finger to their mouth to represent the first amendment´s gaurantee to free speech. Or for the second amendment (the right to bear arms)students can use two fingers to create a gun. Only the first eight are listed, because this is the portion of the bill of rights that makes up our civil liberties.
