Role-play with cards with a dialogue (shopping)
This a role-play activity for elementary students (Level 1). In the file, there are eight role-play cards and a dialogue entitled “At the Clerk Office.” It is a very good activity for students to improve their communication skills and to practice giving reasons. It is a good idea to pre-teach some of the new vocabulary items presented in the dialogue It is a good idea to highlight the contractions i.e “I’d”, “It’s” and other phrase that you think is important. Then, you have to ask the students to practice the dialogue in pairs, so they get use to it. Next, assign the roles and give those who are playing the role of customers the cards that you cut. They will enjoy it! Keep up the good work!
