It enables the teacher to engage students in a conversation about the qualities of a good instructor and student and how demonstrating these qualities can foster a positive learning environment which leads to a contract that both the teacher and students sign. This activity opens students eyes to how their behavior can negatively or positively impact their own progress and the learning environment as a whole.
