Mini Unit for "The Butterfly" by Patricia Polacco
The Butterfly, a picture book written by Patricia Polacco, tells the compelling story of two young girls who became friends during WWII. Although it could be used for younger students, I used it with a group of 6th graders who were thoroughly intrigued by it. I was introduced to the book via a college course when I had to select a picture book to share with middle school students. The mini unit suggests a variety of activities based on the book´s events.
