AUGUST HEAT IN XIŽAN CITY, CHINA: text plus questions
I took the story AUGUST HEAT and rewrote it, making it relevant for Chinese college English majors. Suggestions: have students read it as homework, students retell in pairs in class, and then students are paired with new people and ask and answer the questions. Good for developing reading, listening, and speaking. The teacher can also dictate sentences from the story. Students are asked to write a title to the story and also an ending.
