number crossword
A number crossword to complete in pairs/small groups. One student (or group) has the across clues in figures, the other has the down clues. The students have to ask each other ´what is one down´, the other has to announce it. Excellent as it gives equal opportunities for speaking and understanding, no spelling envolved so works with less able students. More able students can be encouraged to be elabourate in the way they ask the questions. If the answer is 374,the correct response is three hundred AND seventy four, but three hundred seventy four or three seven four would also be understood, underlining whilst linguistic accuracy is desirable, communication is the most important.
