The Copyright Wars Lawsuit #2 (Defendant) - Sean Sarto
Worksheet #2 of 2 (Defendant) - This lawsuit tied exclusivily into the lesson. I began the lesson by playing my own rearrangement of Bruce Springsteenīs song, "Held Up Without a Gun" on my guitar...Then I taught the song to the class, talking about how many music industry agencies use the law to take advantage of other musicians and indicated that was what Springsteen was singing about.(Introduced the word "hypocrisy" here also in terms of Springsteenīs preaching opposed to his practices) Following that we talked about the legal issues of copyright and then came to the lawsuit role-play. With this lawsuit I included myself as a kind of statement on the breadth of the legalities involved. Sadly, the Chinese students always sided with the big companies. Held up without a gun, indeed.
