Secondhand Lions Movie Vocabulary Worksheet 1
Teacher´s Notes
There are a total of 10 worksheets in this series which was created to accompany a viewing of the movie "Secondhand Lions."
STEPS:
Give the first one to class a prize, or make the last one to class be an assistant.
Gather last week’s worksheets. Hand out this week’s worksheets.
Review last week’s words by having them remember the word, meaning, and then write it down while saying it aloud.
Explain that they should be on the lookout for the Golden Words in bold. If they find the word, circle it.
Watch movie clip.
Read each sentence aloud.
Have them guess the meaning of the sentence and write it down in their native language.
Watch the clip again, but this time in their native language.
Explain that sometimes we’re not looking for exact translations; we’re looking for the main idea.
Ask them if they still think their guess is right. If not, rewrite it.
Practice speaking the sentences.
Practice speaking the Golden Words.
Have each person create a new sentence using at least one Golden Word.
Translate the Golden Words.
Talk about plurals, synonyms and the various tenses.
Review the words.
Remind everyone that they have to use the Golden Words at least three times that week, whether in writing or in speaking.
