Phrasal Verbs in Context of a Dialogue Phrasal Verbs in Context of a Dialogue

This is a nice handout that shows phrasal verbs being used in the context of a story about planning for someoneīs birthday party. I read through the first couple lines of the dialogue and model how I use context clues to figure out the meaning of one of the words in bold. I modeled looking through the choices to see what word fit best. Then the students and I do one together. Then they do the sheet independently, paragraph by paragraph. We review after each paragraph. You should note that many phrasal verbs are presented (I think close to 30) so you many want to take several days to do this worksheet. I found that it was a little long to do the whole thing in our 80 min block. Afterwards, I have students choose 5 phrasal verbs and create a dialogue. I circulate and make sure they are interpreting the phrasal verbs correctly. I have the students present their dialogue to the class twice. The first time, the remaining students just listen to understand the dialogue. The second time I have the remaining students listen to hear the 5 phrasal verbs included in the dialogue. I hope that helps you out!
