ESCAPE: CHRONICLES OF MODERN CHINESE CHILDHOOD
ESCAPE was written by one of my students as part of a large autobiographical exercise. It is at a lower intermediate level and should be good material for students anywhere in the world. The questions at the end are designed to encourage oral fluency (students should be put in pairs). There are questions specific to the story and also questions about the students´ own childhood to further encourage discussion.
For the teacher in China, readings are often not culturally relevant. This reading is relevant.
