Who was Charles Darwin ?
Here is a lesson plan designed for 3 to 4 periods min. The idea of the lesson was to start with definitions of the word "hero" in a brainstorming session : someone extraordinary, who can be a positive role model, who changed the world, who helps other people...
Then work on 3 different kinds of "heroes" (with colleagues, each working on one person, or by dividing the class in three groups). The listening comprehension on the video can be done just after the brainstorming session to discover who Charles Darwin was, then you can divide the class in groups and give a visual to each group (these are only examples). They have 10 minutes to get prepared for an oral presentation of their document (type of doc, description and analysis, message, impact on the reader...). After each presentation, anyone in the class can react and add extra analysis. (thus everybody speaks during the lesson).
