Frog and Toad Grammar Exercises
This handout contains two grammar worksheets: The first is high beginner/intermediate level and requires students to write simple past regular and irregular verbs in a reading passage originally by Arnold Lobel.
The second handout requires students to read an original short story by Arnold Lobel and mark or highlight all of the verbs. Advanced students can identify what kinds of verb tenses these are. The third page is a color-coded answer key for the second page.
The difficulty level is intermediate to advanced ESL due to length of the reading passages and difficulty of vocab/verb tenses, but the age-appropriateness is elementary and above.
Before printing these, please decide which answer keys and teacher-intended tips to leave on the pages. Both reading passages were adapted by me for ESL use from Arnold Lobel´s "Frog and Toad Together" children´s book. I claim no authorship of his original writing.
