Following the Rules Sort Activity
Rules Sort Activity Instructions: Print on cardstock, laminate and cutout the picture cards. Place pictures in a bag or other container so students can choose a picture. After student draws the picture, he/she will describe what is happening and identify the rule that is or isn’t being followed.
If the picture shows a child not following the rule, the student will place the picture on the “not following rules” sheet and then demonstrate the correct way to follow that rule.
If the picture shows a child following the rule, then the student will identify the rule and place the card on either the “get along,” “learn,” or “keep safe” sheet. Some rules can go on more than one sheet. The student just needs to identify the rule and explain his/her choice. For example, the picture card shows a child listening. This can go in any of the three categories.
This activity can be simplified, and the student can sort the cards into the following two categories: following the rules or not following the rules.
