Running Dictation (using students´ names)-- Reviewing Irregular Past Tense Verbs
This is a running dictation. The text should be modified with your own students´ names. The goal is to have ALL of the students´ names in the story. Break students into pairs (of different native languages). One student is the "runner" and the other student is the "writer". The writer must get out a piece of paper and a pen. The pair has to work together to replicate this text. The teacher tapes this text on the whiteboard. The runner has to run up to it, read it, memorize as much as possible, and then run back and dictate it to his/her partner. Spelling and punctuation must be the same! Once student get half-way thru, they must switch role. Thus, both students get the chance to practice their listening and speaking skills. A lot of fun and students love it!!
