Character Cards II
I use the cards in conjunction with various grammar exercises, such as writing ten sentences using a certain verb tense. The role play encourages the students to go beyond their comfort zone of describing trips to the mall and video games and use other vocabulary. It also deters copying work from others. It also produces interesting results when they write complex sentences combining their experiences and those of another student.
I generally pass out the cards and don´t allow the students to exchange them, unless they´ve used the same character for a prior exercise.
