By seeing the icon pictures they can not only more readily recognize the word and be able to pronounce it as an ESL activity but they can also choose if the word is a long or short vowel, "i." Great assessment tool for teachers to see where their ss are in terms of their vowel, "i," phonemic awareness. Good for ss who need extra practice with the vowel "i".
