Learning adjectives with The Smurfs (key in description)
This is a new version of a worksheet which I uploaded a couple of days ago (it seems I was not clear enough with the instructions as to how to use the worksheet - I hope now it is clear!).
I used this worksheet to talk about adjectives with my goup of beginner students and they really liked it! I hope so will yours! ;)
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. To begin with, the class talks about the names of the smurfs in their language (e.g. for German: 1st row: Schlaubi, Clumsy, Muffi; 2nd row: McTapfer, Papa Schlumpf, Schlumpfine)
2. Students try to fill in the names of the smurfs in English (Exercise 1. Who is who?). Here students will have to do a bit of guessing!
3. Key for Exercise 1. Who is who?: 1st row: Brainy, Clumsy, Grouchy; 2nd row: Gutsy, Papa Smurf, Smurfette
4. Now the class discusses the meaning of the English names by comparing them to the names in their language and/or the characteristics of the respective smurf
5. Finally, the students write down the meaning of the adjectives in Exercise 2. Adjectives
