This activity is meant to confuse the students some. They will listen to you read the two different passages and jot down some notes. Of course, you will give them the text afterwards and they can see all of their mistakes. (Before I do this, I usually have them compare their answers and see what they came up with that matches.) The activity brings up the issue of misunderstanding people when they are speaking a foreign language. It is very interesting to see/hear their reactions. I´ve had different (and very funny) responses each time but all positive.
