Students work in groups of three asking for the words they are missing (they also have to explain in the grid where the word is - i.e. What is the word in the third column, third row, 12 letters long?). The other student must explain what the word is without using the word.
A variation would be to get the students to write clues for the words in their half of the crossword and then swap this with their partner to solve. This exercise works best if the vocabulary has been used in the previous few classes in some way.
Remember to cut up the work sheets, the students shouldn´t get all parts of the crossword! The completed crossword (the first one) is for the teacher’s (your) reference.
