Cloze Activity + Pronunciation - Badminton Court Dimensions
BACKGROUND: This lesson formed part of a 4-hour, 2 lesson,
Topic (THE OLYMPIC GAMES). Badminton was used
because the lessons were delivered in Viet Nam,
where badminton is one of the country’s major
sports, and a favourite recreational activity.
FOCUS: This (speaking) lesson had 2 foci… DIMENSIONS &
PRONUNCIATION.
a) Dimensions - the students worked with were from a
machinery manufacturing company. Part of
my work (over a period of time) centered
on speaking about dimensions. Further,
the speaking of figures also featured in
work with the company’s Accountants.
b) Pronunciation - This activity provided students with
great review of Pronunciation done
previously. That is, specifically, with
word endings.. ‘s’ & ‘z’, ‘ed’, ‘th’
