I use these worksheets at the start of the year (understanding a summer holiday postcard) in order to prepare my pupils to write one or two of their own holiday postcards to me/each other/pupils in another class / school during the school year. The texts are aimed at two different levels: year 10 and year 8. In year 8, it gets the preterite going again The text for year 10 revives modals and a wider range of vocabulary. Vocabulary help boxes, detailed comprehension activities, and instructions for a written expression are included with the texts.
