I have lived in Japan for 6 years - present perfect intro and practice game
(1) students read the example use of pres´ perf´ in the example conversations with the teacher, or teacher reads, students repeat. (2) Teacher uses the "Toolbox" to give very simple, brief explanations of some new words. (3) Students practice the pattern with sentences to see the use/distinction of "for" and "since" as used in pres perf sentences. (4) Students listen to a short (9 sentence) dialogue and write "have ~" / "for" / "since" in the gaps. (5) Students write a full sentence using "for" and a full sentence using "since" guided by the text. (6) [page2] Students do a final check of the words for, and read example sentences for, a group game activity. EXAMPLE: students/groups choose and circle a sentence-ending for each of rounds 1 to round 6. If in groups, group 1 begins the sentence and group two finishes it. If group 1 has circled the same sentence-ending that group 2 uses, then group 1 gets a point. Continue like that until the final group has done the same with group 1, to complete round one. Repeat that using the unique sentences for rounds 1 to 6. After 6 rounds, the group with the most points wins. _______________________________ A4 B&W, 2 pages, fully editable.
