When I was trying to explain this topic to my students, I came up with the idea of the steps to change direct speech into reported speech. Your students have to report what the people in the picture said but following the steps from the chart. I hope you find this worksheet useful and it would help your students to practice this topic. The last page is to be fotocopied and given to your students as a bookmark. So, they won´t forget the rules for verbs and modals change.
